Every age needs its hero. A prominent figure who shakes things up. The legendary struggle for freedom, pride, and honour of the Kurd general Molla Mustafa Barzani inspired us to our new collection.
Throughout his life Barzani fought for an independent state for the Kurdish people . In the Iranian part of Kurdistan, as a general at the side of the head of government, Gazi Mohammed, he achieved the announcement of the first Kurdish autonomous republic - Mahabad Kurdistan. Unfortunately, the proclaimed independence was short lived, however, it sent a clear signal to the world. Daring to take up the fight for your convictions, against every struggle is the key message of the M.M.B. Project.
His charisma and his will to fight regardless of overwhelming numerical disadvantage, allowed him to rise far enough to found and guide the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP). Despite his slight lack of physical height, an aura of huge physical presence always surrounded this fighter. He was a man who could arouse incredible enthusiasm and devotion and who took on the legendary „long march“ over Turkey, Iran up to the Soviet Union into exile.
With his return in the 60s, general Barzani came back with, above all, an extreme will to be the keeper and sponsor of the Kurdish language. The strength of his conviction lead Barzani to rebel against the then oppressive regime. For nine long years the Kurdish people fought a civil war at his side. Barzani’s last fight was against cancer. One he could not win. After his death thousands of Kurds give in tribute to their hero.
His passion, his willpower, and his sparkle remain eternally unforgotten; and we think live on in our collection.
